He’s smart
He’s lovable. He is Dexter Morgan, America’s favorite serial killer, who spends his days solving crimes and his nights committing them. In season 8, Angel Batista was not always played by David Zayas.
Visible in the first season, Dexter has a large scar on his left side
His son, David Zayas Jr., stands in for his father in some shots, as the two look remarkably similar. Later, in the second season, the scar migrated to his right side, leaving his left side without a mark. Over the years, my eyes adjusted until the darkness became my world and I could see.

Main theme song written by Rolfe Kent and performed by Rolfe Kent. I read Lindsay’s excellent books Darkly Dreaming Dexter and Dearly Devoted Dexter a while back, and when I heard there was going to be a series based on the books, I was extremely excited. So much so, in fact, that I feared disappointment simply because my standards were so high.
Thankfully, Dexter absolutely delivers
The show preserves the uncomfortable atmosphere of the novels with better fidelity than you could have ever expected, and Dexter (played by Hall) is all in. The show’s visuals are stunning, to say the least. Disturbing, for sure, but more than that: mesmerizing.
This one has a permanent place on my DVR
Watching the show, you can’t help but find a certain level of approval for Dexter. He’s a monster, and yet it’s entirely possible to identify with him. 10 out of 10.
