Ralph Macchio told Uproxx that there are three new angles of the famous crane kick
Line of Events
Decades after their 1984 All Valley Karate Tournament match, middle-aged Daniel LaRusso and Johnny Lawrence find themselves back as martial arts rivals. The crew behind Cobra Kai searched through the studio’s vaults and found a ton of never-before-seen clips, which they were able to introduce into the series via flashbacks. One of them includes Zabka’s real-life mother in the stands from various angles that hadn’t been seen until 2018. Many believe that Miyagi’s name on his headstone is a recurring error, as in Karate Kid 4 (1994) his name is listed as Keisuke, but it was actually shown on a sign held by Chozen in Karate Kid 2 (1986) to be Nariyoshi.
This means that The Next Karate Kid changed his name, while Cobra Kai kept the name he was given earlier
However, another interesting fact is that the name given in The Karate Kid Part II is not his original first name. Miyagi. In The Karate Kid (1984), Miyagi’s first name is briefly seen as Hideo on Miyagi’s dog tag attached to the keys to the 1948 Ford that Daniel was given for his birthday. The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon: Anthony Mackie/Ralph Macchio/Kiry Shabazz (2018) I was a teenager in the 80s and enjoyed watching this movie, as did many boys my age.
It’s not over-acted (or under-acted)
I was a little skeptical when I saw that a new series was being made 30 years after the movie ended. But after I saw the trailer – I felt like they were onto something. After watching a few episodes – I can tell you that they nailed it. This is the best show – anywhere.
It’s not corny or silly either
It’s the perfect balance of seriousness with a few 80s quips or references here & there. This revival could have been a disaster but they’re the writers, directors & actors. It’s funny because as a kid I wanted to punch Johnny in the throat as hard as possible. But as a 40-something year old – I’m rooting for him a little bit.

A big job for the people responsible for making this happen – and of course it’s Ralph & William! Thank you! A new season of "The Silo" is one of the biggest TV and streaming premieres this month.
